<p>NPCing at Kaurath

Things to do if you plan to be a Non-Protagonist Character

A. Visit LARPortal so you can register for our events

a1. Visit LARPortal.com and create an account
a2. Join our campaign, Kaurath

a3. Indicate that you plan to NPC for us.

B. Add notes on Food Allergies

Adding notes on Food Allergies will help our kitchen staff since we provide Food from late Friday through midday Sunday. And any medical notes we need to know or have handy to pass on in case we need to call a service.

C. Register for the event

Register for a specific upcoming game of ours as an NPC

Let us know about housing

If you are staying off site mention that in the box labeled Housing when you register.

If you are coming with friends and want to share the same cabin please let us know in that same box next to the label Housing.

We should have enough beds for all pre-registered attendees

All sleeping space on site is double bunks with good mattresses. Plan to bring sleeping bags or bed linens. Make sure you include a note under Housing if you need a bottom bunk, as we have several folks who needed them for practical or medical reasons.

D.  Sign the Waiver

If you have not done this this year,

Print out the Accident Waiver, fill it out, and bring it along. (Or scan it and email it back to logistics at kaurath.com if you happen to be able to)

E. Make sure you are up to date on the COVID rules at the moment.

The current rules are on the front page and here. (Generally we ask folks have get their vaccinations, be free of symptoms, and have a negative rapid test during the 24hours before the event starts. Talk to logistics if any of this is an issue, maybe we can help. For example, we always try to have a few spare tests and masks at Logistics, Cabin 17. )

That is all the on line work to do as an NPC since the event is free for NPCs and the food from Friday through Sunday is included. We actually provide some basic pizza (or similar things as requested) on Friday for those of you who show up and help set up.

F. Skim the Rules

First look at Chapter 0 for our general philosophy of gaming.

If you know Accellerant

If you know the core system we use, called Accelerant, then you probably just want a copy of the one page summary around. Then skip to H.<>/P>

If you are new to Accelerant

Here is the very short summary

Most calls you hear will be Effect by Trait such as "2 Damage by Fire". If there is no call any weapon blow does one (Uncalled) damage. Any packet without a call is an arrow doing one (Uncalled) damage. After three blows (a flurry) take a breath, check that you are not too close, then continue. The rest of the calls are pretty obvious and somone should be with you on each adventure/module to help if needed. A summary of all the effects which are not obvious can be found here.

When you run out of vitality fall down.

If you are unsure, fall down or ask "Clarify?" or "Clarify WordYouDontGet?" and they should say "To Clarify: and a true explanation"

If searched and you have treasure give them a piece of the treasure.

If the make a call about ingredients while searching you and you have ingredient cards give them one.

After a minute of being ignored rise as a spirit, eyes down hands to the side and move away from the fight. You may well be coming back into the fight as another similar NPC. Your card or the experienced NPC or marshall handling the module can let you know.

If you want to take a little more time and review the full rules they are in Chapter 1 of the rule book .

When you arrive let the taf know you are interested in practice and the new player modules. These modules are designed for new players and NCPCs to review the rules in game and out rules briefing. We try and run new player modules to remind folks of the basic rules.

G. Before the game

Pack well, makes sure you are not feeling sick, test negative, have all the needed vaccinations, grab your vax card or just send logistics a photo of it, grab your release (or fill one out on-site), and head over.

H. Show up. Look awesome, be awesome, have fun!

Someone will be handling check-in on site either in the Tavern or roams around or sitting Logistics aka Monster Camp aka Cabin 17, see the map, the first cabin on the left of the road over the bridge and up the hill.

It will be amazing.

If you can arrive in the 4-6pm Friday window and help set up that is a big plus but we appreciate all the time you can contribute.

When you arrive check in at Cabin 17. Let us know you are here to NPC and if you are new to Kaurath or Accelerant let us know that as well. If you need a copy of the map it is available on line, here.

An added plus -- NPCs earn the same credit toward a character as you would if you PCed it here. And you can put those days of credit towards any other friendly LARP where you may have a player character -- we are in general always willing to trade as part of our policy of supporting the hobby generally.

After the event submit a Post Event Letter to let us know how things went and what In-Between Game Actions your character will be working on at https://forms.gle/VfUNn1p6zmGNnYqX9
